The liberal world order that emerged after the Second World War - and expanded triumphantly following the Cold War - is unravelling. Multilateral cooperation is giving way to multipolar rivalry and conflict. Global norms are eroding. Alexander Stubb is the 13th President of Finland and a former Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Finance Minister. He was Director and Professor at the School of Transnational Governance at the European University Institute and Vice-President of the European Investment Bank and holds degrees from Furman University and the College of Europe and a PhD from the London School of Economics. The author of some twenty books, he is also an avid triathlete and lives in Helsinki.
