New Chinese Migrants in Zambia

This book examines the experiences of new Chinese migrants to Zambia, including those from state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and private businesses, within the broader context of China's growing economic engagement with Africa. Drawing on ethnographic studies, this book provides a vivid account of their migratory trajectories, daily lives, interactions with local communities, labor market activities, and the challenges they face. It explores their struggles, coping strategies, and the impact of health issues, offering a nuanced understanding of what it means to be Chinese in contemporary Zambian society and, more broadly, in Africa.
