All-State is a coming-of-age tale full of hope, tenacity, and the special bond that emerges when a girls' basketball team dares to chase a collective dream. They are just a group of teenagers living in one of the many small towns in Iowa—the Hoover Knights, a band of girls bound together by the game of basketball. Unlike years past, the Hoover High School players have been longing to take the court together; basketball is their best chance to have some fun in their ordinary town. Along with devoted coaches, the team sticks together through adversity and starts to believe they are capable of more. Forging a bond and pushing the envelope with their fast-paced style of play, the girls awaken a town and generate a passionate following as they become audacious in their pursuit of a dream. Through extraordinary highs and crushing defeats, this is a heartwarming look into the season in the life of a girls' high school basketball team. Inspired by true events, All-State captures the essence of unity, the kind that emerges when teammates become family, and the courtside becomes a canvas for dreams to unfold.

Dawson Rivera was born and raised in Iowa. Growing up, she was captivated by the game of basketball at an early age, and this interest led her to pursue reading any book on the sport that she could get her hands on. Dawson would excel on the basketball court, becoming a three-time First Team All-State honoree in high school and a four-year starter at the University of Northern Iowa. Later, Rivera developed a passion for writing, aspiring to create more content for young athletes to read, especially female athletes. In her book All-State, Rivera tells the tale of a high school girls basketball team and their journey together through one season. She lives in Florida with her husband and daughter.
