The Bellringer of Saint-Lazare

On a storm-lashed October night in 1848, a young history student enters the crumbling ruins of Saint-Lazare Chapel, determined to disprove the legend of its ghostly tolling bell. But as the midnight hour approaches, silence gives way to the spectral presence of Joseph Cange, the long-dead bellringer bound to the tower by his suffering.
