Minna und Richard Wagner

Richard Wagner and the attractive actress Minna Planer met in 1834, and in 1836 were joined in a marriage that would last until Minna's death in 1866. Minna Wagner, highly independent and self-confident, shared her husband's restless life between the operatic scene in Paris, the barricades in Dresden and exile in Switzerland, with all its highs and lows, and the beginning of the famous composer's career. The well-known musicologist and Wagner expert Eva Rieger's study of the marriage of two artists, Minna and Richard Wagner, also depicts the early and middle periods of the composer's creative life. This new edition includes a series of previously unknown and unpublished letters from Minna Wagner, which shed new light on sometimes complicated relationships, and thus reflects the latest research.
