The Qur'an and its Biblical Subtext

Traditionally the Qur'an has been interpreted through medieval commentaries shaped by the biography of the prophet Muhammad. This book presents the Muslim holy book in light of its conversation with Jewish and Christian scripture, challenging the dominant scholarly method of reading the Qur'an.

Gabriel Said Reynolds is Associate Professor of Islamic Studies and Theology at the University of Notre Dame (USA). He works on Qur'-nic Studies and Muslim-Christian Relations and is the author of A Muslim Theologian in the Sectarian Milieu, the translator of 'Abd al-Jabb-r's A Critique of Christian Origins, and the editor of The Qur'-n in Its Historical Context.
