Gender, Environment and Sustainable Development

This book studies environment and sustainable development from the perspective of gender. It focuses on three major themes, including sustainability of development practices, policy perspectives on environmental management and climate change and its gendered impact. It includes contributions from academicians working across disciplines and practitioners working at the grassroots levels. The book addresses issues facing India amid a growing global environmental crisis and suggests policy measures for environmental protection and to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants. Shweta Prasad is a professor of Sociology and Director, Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Banaras Hindu University, India. Over two decades of teaching, research, consulting and outreach experience have given her an incisive and penetrating intellectual ability for in-depth analysis of critical components of any phenomenon.
