Airline Pilots in the Age of AI

Presenting an empirically rich account of life as a pilot, this book explores the work experience of commercial airline pilots who face existential threat from artificial intelligence. It will appeal to students, scholars and professionals within aviation management, human resource management, employment relations and the sociology of work.

Geraint Harvey is DANCAP Private Equity Chair in Human Organization at Western University, Ontario, Canada. He studied at Cardiff University where he completed his PhD in 2005. He has formerly worked at University of Bristol, University of Birmingham and Swansea University. His research has explored the changing nature of work primarily in commercial aviation. His doctoral study was published by Routledge in 2007 as "Management in the Airline Industry". He has been commissioned to undertake research for a range of international organizations including the International Labour Organization and has published his research in a wide range of media.
