Local Journalism and Local Media

This new edition of "Making the Local News," first published in 1998, "The Local Media "will include: Coverage of the practice of journalism in local newspapers, radios, magazines, television and websites; Discussion of key developments in the local media scene such as the introduction of free urban newspapers such as "Metro, " online editions of newspapers, and journalistic ethics; Increased coverage of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland; The content of local media - readers' letters, stories about "ordinary people," coverage of the congestion charge and local elections; Contributions from journalists, editors, media academics, regulators and policy makers.

Bob Franklin is Professor of Journalism Studies at the Cardiff School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies. His previous publications include Television Policy: The MacTaggart Lectures (2005), Packaging Politics: Political Communication in Britain's Media Democracy (2004) and Newszak And News Media (1997) amongst many others.
