Making Media' uncovers what it means and what it takes to make media, focusing on the lived experience of media professionals within the global media, including rich case studies of the main media industries and professions: television, journalism, social media entertainment, advertising and public relations, digital games, and music. Mark Deuze is Professor of Media Studies and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Amsterdam's Department of Media Studies. Publications of his work include over ninety papers in academic journals, as well as nine books. Mark is also the bass player and singer of post-grunge band Skinflower. Mirjam Prenger is Assistant Professor at the Department of Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Mirjam researches the history of media innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as the relationship between journalism and public relations.
