A Fast Company Press Book Train Like a Corporate Athlete to PERFORM as a Leader You work hard. You push through long days, constant demands, and the pressure to operate at a high level at work and at home. From the outside, you may look successful. But internally, the pace is taking a toll. Your energy is drained, your focus is scattered, and "business as usual" no longer feels sustainable. In PERFORM, leadership expert Sal Silvester introduces a new approach to high achievement--one inspired by the way elite athletes train, recover, and sustain excellence over time. Most leaders are taught to grind harder and sacrifice recovery in the name of results, but sustained success doesn't come from constant output. It comes from intentional preparation, emotional resilience, focused execution, strategic recovery, and purpose-driven work. Using his PERFORM model, Silvester shares practical tools and strategies to help you elevate how you lead, think, execute, and recover: - P - Build a powerful Pregame routine - E - Strengthen Emotional intelligence - R - Develop Resilience under pressure - F - Improve Focus in a distracted world - O - Optimize your habits, time, and energy - R - Prioritize Recovery to sustain elite performance - M - Find deeper Meaning in your work PERFORM is not about slowing down or lowering expectations. It's about building the capacity to operate at a high level so you can perform when it matters most, both professionally and personally.
